An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives

Reject Undemocratic SAVE Act Suppressing Voter Rights

22 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act) would require individuals to provide documentary proof of citizenship when registering to vote, a cumbersome and discriminatory barrier that could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters, especially married women whose names may differ from their birth certificates and other documentation. This legislation is a blatant attempt at voter suppression under the guise of election security. Numerous studies have shown voter fraud is exceedingly rare, and existing safeguards are more than sufficient to protect electoral integrity. Creating unnecessary hurdles to voting violates the core democratic principle of maximizing citizen participation in elections. I urge you to reject this undemocratic and harmful bill that aims to restrict the fundamental right to vote. Our nation's strengths arise from its diversity and inclusivity - we must defend accessible voting to uphold the will of the people.
