Strip the Authoritarian Agenda from the Budget Bill

Do not pass the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” unless every single provision that has nothing to do with the budget is removed. If you believe in firing civil servants for disloyalty, neutering the courts, weakening Congress, politicizing agencies, and expanding executive power to dangerous new levels—then have the courage to pass those things in a standalone bill. Let the American people see it for what it is: an authoritarian wishlist dressed up as fiscal policy. This bill does more than spend money. It: • Reinstates “Schedule F” so the president can fire career civil servants for political reasons • Requires plaintiffs to pay a bond before judges can enforce orders—undermining judicial power • Slashes Medicaid and guts gender-affirming care access nationwide • Increases surveillance capabilities without meaningful oversight • Lets the president delay or manipulate spending Congress already authorized If passed as-is, it rewrites how our democracy functions—without hearings, debate, or accountability. That’s not a budget. That’s a power grab. So here’s the deal: If you’re proud of these changes, vote for them in the daylight. If you’re not, strip them from this bill. Anything less is cowardice wrapped in procedure. America is watching and Republicans are failing.
