Supreme Court: Stop the Political Purge of Immigration Judges

President Trump has fired over 30 immigration judges since January 2025, including 16 in July, despite Congress allocating over $3 billion to reduce a backlog of nearly 4 million cases. Matt Biggs, president of the judges’ union, stated, “You can’t enforce immigration laws when you fire the enforcers.” The removal of judges undermines due process and erodes public confidence in the legal system.
Legal scholars like David Hausman argue that replacing judges with political loyalists damages the integrity of the courts and complicates the differentiation between violent criminals and refugees. As the backlog worsens, legitimate cases stagnate, leaving families in limbo.
The Supreme Court must protect judicial independence and address executive overreach. We urge the Court to issue an injunction or statement reaffirming that the removal of impartial judges is unacceptable. We demand action to uphold the rule of law, protect immigration judges from political pressures, and ensure honest judicial review. The future of America’s justice system depends on it.
