Demand Annie Andrews Reverse Her Anti-Trans Betrayal

Annie Andrews needs to reverse her anti-trans positions immediately and recommit to the values she campaigned on. In 2022, she called South Carolina's trans sports ban "shameful" and said she would "always support trans youth." Now she's using the phrase "biological men," opposing trans participation in women's sports, and refusing to fight the state's felony ban on hormone therapy and puberty blockers for trans youth. That's not evolution — that's abandonment. The Democratic Party cannot win by becoming a softer version of the opposition. Andrews herself once called out Rep. Nancy Mace for being "willing to just throw this population under the bus to score political points." She is now doing exactly that. Trans youth in South Carolina are being forced off their medication, and her campaign's response is that the ban isn't something she's working to change. That is a moral failure, not a political strategy. Democrats who throw minorities overboard to chase right-wing voters don't deserve the party's support. I expect the party to hold Andrews accountable and demand she return to the positions she publicly held before political pressure made her cruel.
