The proposed amendment in the reconciliation bill allowing the sale of public lands is deeply concerning. It lacks clear definitions and safeguards, potentially enabling the privatization of our shared natural heritage. Rural economies depend on these public lands for outdoor recreation, hunting, and tourism revenue. As an avid outdoorsman, I value the freedom to responsibly enjoy our nation's open spaces without barriers or fees. This bill does not guarantee affordable housing outcomes and could allow the sale of public lands to private interests or foreign entities. I urge you to reject any measures that enable the disposal of public lands, which belong to all Americans. Our public lands must be protected, not auctioned off for short-term gains. They are a unique national treasure that defines the American spirit of wilderness and adventure. Please stand firm against efforts to dismantle public land ownership and access.
