I am writing to you as a concerned citizen deeply troubled by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. As you are well aware, the situation in Ukraine is critical, and the need for U.S. support is more urgent than ever. However, I am disheartened to learn that Congressional Republicans have recently decided to politicize this issue by removing aid to Ukraine from the latest budgetary continuing resolution.
The Office of Management and Budget has clearly indicated that without immediate financial support, Ukraine's ability to continue its fight for sovereignty will be severely compromised. It is alarming that the aid crucial to Ukraine's survival could be withheld or delayed due to unrelated political agendas, specifically the demand for major immigration reform.
The integration of immigration policy changes, such as permanent alterations to the asylum program and increased deportations, into the discourse of providing aid to Ukraine is not only irrelevant but also a disservice to our ally's immediate needs. The urgency of the situation in Ukraine cannot be overstated. Their battle against Russian aggression is not only a fight for their own freedom but also a stance for democratic principles and international sovereignty.
I urge you, as my representative, to advocate for and support a clean aid package to Ukraine—one that is not encumbered by unrelated political demands. Time is a luxury we cannot afford in this situation. Our prompt action could play a pivotal role in supporting Ukraine in their struggle against the oppressive regime of Vladimir Putin.
Standing with Ukraine in their time of need is not just a matter of foreign policy; it is a testament to our commitment to democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. I trust that you will take immediate action on this matter, reflecting the urgency and gravity of the situation.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue. I look forward to your prompt response and action.
