FROM PROXY WAR TO REAL WAR?

Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff,’” Trump said Tuesday, before meeting with his advisers in the Situation Room for 80 minutes. “Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.” Nothing screams USA louder than our bombing capability. Israel seems to be assuming America will be joining their conflict with Iran. Is there reason for them to believe this to be true? We should not forget that we are where we are because Iran was able to resume and continue its nuclear program when Trump in his first term left the Iran nuclear agreement. Y’all remember that? And where is the evidence that something has changed about Iran’s seemingly eternal quest for a nuclear bomb? Iran has been a year or even months from nuclear breakout for years and years. Chicken Little is exhausted at this point. US intelligence has not reached the same conclusion as Israel that Iran is about to reach nuclear capability. Asked if something changed between the end of March and this week and if the US intel was wrong, Netanyahu said: ‘The intel we got and we shared with the United States was absolutely clear, was absolutely clear that they were working, in a secret plan to weaponize the uranium. They were marching very quickly.’ Y’all remember Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction? Justification for war adapts to whatever scenario sells the best. Trump, when asked on Wednesday if Washington would enter the conflict, said: “I may do it, I may not do it. I mean, nobody knows what I’m going to do.” Yeah. We should all sleep better tonight with this kind of leadership. Part of me thinks Trump wants to get into a conflict because his buddies in Israel and Russia shouldn’t have all the glory. The rest of me thinks Trump is so far out of his depth that he really doesn’t know what he’s going to do. Let’s just hope it’s more of the same old talk tough but do nothing. But at least he’s creating a distraction for his pretty successful efforts to defeat his own country in the civil war and creeping coup he’s stoking right here at home. A rush to war with Iran will not end well for anyone involved.
