DHS Expands Surveillance to Target LGBTQ Americans—Help Us?

28 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

I am writing to express concern over the recent DHS policy changes that allow surveillance based on sexual orientation or gender identity. This decision undermines the civil liberties of LGBTQ+ individuals and sets a dangerous precedent for government overreach. The Brennan Center for Justice has highlighted past civil rights abuses by the DHS’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis, including the unconstitutional surveillance of journalists and activists. Such policies threaten the principles of equality and justice. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” I urge immediate action to reinstate protections against surveillance based on these personal characteristics, ensuring that all citizens are treated with dignity and respect.
