I am writing as your constituent to ask you to sign your support on a letter being circulated by Representative Dina Titus and Senator Michael Bennet urging IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel to include the 9 million overseas Americans in the Direct File Program for the 2025 tax filing season. Despite having modest incomes, they are subject to more complex tax reporting obligations, are unable to access filing assistance programs available to domestic taxpayers, and must pay more than the average American does to file their taxes each year. Your support would help motivate the IRS to better support what it considers to be an underserved community, making it more feasible for them to file and pay their taxes each year.
