Opposing Cuts to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)

I am writing to express my strong opposition to any efforts to cut funding or weaken the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The CFPB plays a critical role in protecting consumers from predatory financial practices, ensuring transparency in the marketplace, and holding financial institutions accountable for misconduct. Any reduction in its funding or authority would jeopardize these essential protections and put millions of Americans at greater financial risk. Since its establishment, the CFPB has returned billions of dollars to consumers who have been harmed by unfair lending practices, fraudulent financial products, and deceptive business practices. It has also implemented important regulations that promote fair lending, protect vulnerable populations, and improve financial literacy. Weakening the CFPB would disproportionately impact everyday Americans, including seniors, military families, and low-income individuals, who rely on its oversight to safeguard their financial well-being. Now, more than ever, we need a strong CFPB to ensure that financial institutions operate fairly and transparently. I urge you to oppose any measures that would reduce its funding, limit its enforcement powers, or otherwise hinder its ability to protect consumers.
