Support expanded driver's license eligibility in Oklahoma by endorsing Senate Bill 669 by Senator Michael Brooks and House Bill 2114 by Representative Ryan Martinez. These bills would enable individuals who pay their taxes with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to qualify for a driver's license. The bills include measures to ensure secure elections by preventing ITIN filers from registering to vote and differentiating between regular and ITIN licenses.
More than 33,000 Oklahomans currently pay over $26 million in taxes to the state but cannot take the state driver's license test. SB 669 and HB 2114 are endorsed by several groups, including the Oklahoma Sheriffs Association, the Oklahoma Fraternal Order of Police, the Oklahoma State Troopers Association, the Oklahoma Farm Bureau, the Oklahoma Homebuilders Association, the Oklahoma Insurance Commission, and many more. The bills are expected to increase licensed drivers by more than 28,000 and generate $2.5 million in state revenue, $61.4 million in additional liability policy sales, and almost $40 million in savings for existing policyholders.
