Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Today we’re reading about more propaganda coming out of the mouth of a GOP Senator. But this time it’s a woman trying to show concern for other women by using a horrific incident of human trafficking as an example of Joe Biden’s lack of control over our southern border.
Except the story, awful abuse facts intact, did not even happen in the US and didn’t even happen during the Biden administration. In fact these events happened between 2004-2008 when George W. Bush was president. In Mexico.
Will people ever learn that for every story there’s someone somewhere fact-checking? Especially in such a high-profile, lurid story that was told as part of the SOTU?
Senator Britt said she talked directly to the survivor, which makes one assume she knew exactly when the events took place. So to use this instance of true unconscionable abuse as a tool to create a false narrative is beyond shameful. It’s shameful to the victim whose story was twisted. It’s shameful to the office Senator Britt holds. It’s shameful to we the people because we keep vainly hoping the truth will come out of politicians mouths. Sadly we are consistently shown you do not respect our intelligence.
But the ultimate, irrefutable irony is that the Senator used this story of sexual abuse in an effort to elect Donald Trump, who has been accused of rape in an allegation a judge called “substantially true”, and of assault or misconduct by more than 20 other women.
Senator Katie Britt says sexual assault is the worst thing that can happen to a woman while encouraging Americans to vote for a convicted sexual predator.
Y’all stink at the women’s issues thing.
