WHO’S THE REAL LOSER?

Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas. And in November I’ve been offered the option to vote twice by our unilateral prez. So that’s fantastic. But that’s just silliness and I’m writing about something much more odious. (Who knew that was even possible anymore.) I write about an Atlantic article posted today spelling out in black and white the disdain our American President holds for our American military. If you want to feel even prouder of your candidate, you should read it. Those of us who pay attention remember the cancelled Aisne-Marne American Cemetery visit in France back in 2018. Feeble excuses, falsehoods, were offered as to why the visit was cancelled. Helicopter couldn’t fly. Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Ridiculous. “Neither claim was true. Trump rejected the idea of the visit because he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.” Not only is Mr. Trump a coward by refusing to serve his country by use of influence and BS medical deferments, but he then refuses to pay honor to those who took his place and actually did answer the call to serve. Like my father. A proud Marine. From disparaging one of the most honorable men in your party during his vile 2016 campaign because he liked people who weren’t captured, he only views the military as useful props, trotted out when he needs a photo-op, or when he needs to pretend he has the strength we all know he does not. His behavior is reprehensible. And your party, the party of flag waving, supporters of all things military, the first in line to laud our service men and women, and the first to exhibit righteous anger if you think they are being wronged, stand silent while this most wretched of men denigrates them in both word and deed. But unlike you, they have to stand silent and take it. Who do you think deserves our eternal thanks and gratitude more? The people who protect our country, our people, and our way of life? Or a President who does exactly the opposite every single time he opens his mouth? No wonder military support for Mr. Trump has eroded. Why wouldn’t it? I just wonder why yours has not.
