As I'm sure you know, the US postal service is in dire straits. It is an institution that has served our democracy for almost as long as our democracy has existed. Now, there are for-profit entities and their supporters, like Donald Trump, who want to see the US postal service undermined and privatized. If you value our democracy at all, not to mention the heritage that the USPS carries with it, you will stand strong for the continued longevity and support for the USPS. Our country has moved in so many ways to the benefit of the rich to the detriment of the poor and middle classes this would be another huge blow in that direction! Rural and many other kinds of deliveries do not make a profit. For-profit corporations have little or no motivation to serve underserved and rural neighborhoods and areas. The USPS has a long history of doing so. That is a public good that should be supported by public taxes. Telephone service was the same way. We struggle now because of the leaning of Republican administrations towards undermining public services to the benefit of for-profit services that don't serve everyone. Make support for the USPS a part of the next must pass Corona legislation. This is a critical piece of infrastructure for American democracy.
