Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas. Really bored with the news today. Same old caca, different day. But still, an ‘informed’ citizenry is an active participant in democracy, so here I am. I expect the next few weeks will be a marvel of distortion, obfuscation, denial, misinformation, and re-writing of history. And for once I’m not talking about Mr. Trump. I’m talking about his party, specifically my Texas senators and their trusty colleagues. It’s already started, with impunity. Good thing you’re mostly lawyers so you are already professional BSers. But still, it’s gonna be a blast to watch the show. Because we know, if you actually succeed in slamming through any kind of SCOTUS nominee, your party will be doomed. No matter how you look at it. So I say go for it. The sooner, the better. Because ultimately, sideshows aside, your party and your President will be judged on the lack of leadership, courage, plan, and basic lack of concern coming from the WH and half of our government during a world-wide pandemic. A pandemic that is hitting America harder than most because our leaders have tuned out and turned to politics to save, not our day, but theirs. “Maybe this COVID thing is a good thing. I don’t like shaking hands with people. I don’t have to shake hands with these disgusting people.’” You say ‘disgruntled employee.’ But you know that could absolutely come out of his mouth. Almost 200,000 American dead and you, he, and his supporters think he’s doing a great job. What would a bad job look like? But I’m hoping the words below speak as much truth as the quote above. “If I lose to [Biden], I don’t know what I’m going to do. I will never speak to you again. You’ll never see me again.” Ha. As if.
