Reject Todd Blanche as interim Attorney General and oppose any permanent nomination to lead the Department of Justice.
Blanche served as Deputy Attorney General under Pam Bondi during one of the most troubling periods in DOJ history. He was second-in-command while the department pursued politically motivated investigations against Trump's opponents, including Senator Adam Schiff, Letitia James, and James Comey. He oversaw operations while grand juries declined to indict targets the administration publicly demanded be prosecuted. Two former FBI agents are currently suing the department for political retribution under this leadership.
The Epstein file debacle happened on Blanche's watch. After Bondi promised transparency, the department released millions of documents that lawmakers from both parties called incomplete. An unsigned memo claimed no client list existed and no evidence warranted investigating uncharged individuals, despite years of public reporting to the contrary.
The Justice Department needs leadership committed to independence, not continuity from an administration that weaponized prosecutions. Blanche's tenure as Deputy Attorney General disqualifies him from leading the department in any capacity. The Senate must demand a nominee with no ties to the previous DOJ leadership and a demonstrated commitment to apolitical law enforcement.
