I just learned that UnitedHealth’s Medicare Advantage HMO’s will now require a primary care physician to authorize seeing a medical specialist. This will delay and deny care and serve to only increases profit for UnitedHealth at the expense of seniors who chose this kind of commercial Medicare Replacement. When commercial companies stand between you and your doctor - the patient loses. The determine what care you can have, what medicines you can have and whether or not you are treated. That’s not healthcare that’s wealth management. We all deserve to be able to go to the doctor when we need to and not go broke.
