Vote NO on mid-decade redistricting

To: Rep. Tant, Gov. DeSantis, Sen. Simon

From: A verified voter in Tallahassee, FL

April 28

As a Florida resident and voter, I vehemently oppose both mid-decade redistricting and gerrymandering. While Gov. DeSantis has claimed that his push for redistricting is about complying with constitutional and legal standards, it’s clear to everyone that the real reason is partisan gerrymandering, which is illegal according to the Florida Constitution (Article III, Section 20). I’m not alone. When it comes to mid-decade redistricting in Florida: 55% of Florida voters oppose it. Only 36% of Republican voters support it. Only 25% of Democratic voters support it. Only 14% of independent voters support it. Floridians also overwhelmingly oppose partisan gerrymandering: 63% of Floridians voted in 2010 to pass the Fair Districts Amendments. 76% of Floridians support drawing electoral districts by an independent commission of citizens rather than by state lawmakers. A September 2025 poll found that 66% of Floridians support Congress banning maps that favor one political party, including 58% of Republicans, 69% of independents, and 74% of Democrats. It’s crystal clear that Floridians do not want our Legislature wasting our tax dollars by ignoring the rule of law and basic decency in order to disenfranchise certain groups of voters. Kindly spend your time and our money enacting legislation that helps the average Floridian and our beautiful state as a whole instead of trying to manipulate the vote. Thank you.
