Do everything in your power to block Bill Pulte from serving as Director of National Intelligence. Trump himself admitted the appointment "is not going to be permanent" — so why are we gambling national security on a housing finance regulator with zero intelligence experience while tensions with Iran are escalating?
Congress created the DNI role after 9/11 specifically to prevent intelligence failures. The law requires "extensive national security expertise." Pulte has none. His qualifications appear to be loyalty to Trump and a willingness to make baseless fraud accusations against Letitia James, Lisa Cook, and Adam Schiff. Even Senate Majority Leader John Thune said it plainly: "We don't need a weaponized DNI. We need professionals there." If Republicans are saying this out loud, the situation is serious.
Democrats have threatened to block FISA surveillance authority unless this appointment is reversed — use that leverage. Pulte can serve up to 210 days under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act without Senate confirmation. That is 210 days of a loyalist filtering what the president sees in his daily intelligence brief. History shows what happens when leaders surround themselves with yes-people instead of experts. Don't let that happen here.
