I am writing to express my deep concern about President Donald Trump’s ongoing defiance of Supreme Court rulings. His refusal to comply with the decisions of the highest court in the land represents a direct challenge to the constitutional balance of powers and the rule of law.
The Supreme Court is a coequal branch of government, and its rulings must be respected and enforced. When the President of the United States openly disregards those decisions, it sets a dangerous precedent and weakens the very foundation of our democracy.
Congress has both the authority and the obligation to act when the constitutional order is threatened. Specifically, Congress can:
• Exercise its oversight powers to investigate and hold hearings regarding the President’s defiance;
• Enact or strengthen legislation that ensures the enforcement of Supreme Court decisions;
• Use the appropriations process to place limits on actions or agencies that fail to comply with court orders;
• Pursue legal and constitutional remedies, including censure or impeachment, if warranted by the severity of the conduct.
As your constituent, I am asking: What do you plan to do in response to the President’s defiance of the Supreme Court? Will you defend the rule of law and uphold your oath to protect the Constitution?
This is a critical moment for our country. History will remember those who stood by silently—and those who acted with courage and principle. I urge you to be among the latter.
I look forward to your response.
