This year's legislative session in Texas and in other states is beyond the pale. Today they are voting on SB 20, a bill that would effectively criminalize fictional content that is sexual in nature or is determined to be sexual but doesn't do a thing to tackle child abuse or AI scraping, the process of taking photos and other material and using it to generate the results. And yet lawmakers in Texas went on at length about the genitals of children during a vote on a mental health bill and the authors of SB 20 voted against a bill that would make child marriages illegal in the state. The question must be asked: who does SB 20 protect? Who does it benefit? Children are still in danger in Texas it seems. The lawmakers there would rather endanger minors by marrying them off against their will to adults while subjecting children to 'genital checks' than amend a bill and focus on AI generated CSEM and CSAM. If this bill passes it will only cause this same disgusting mentality to spring up in other states. In fact it has. One GOP congressman described preteen girls as 'ripe'. Any parent should be horrified that someone like that is in a position of power to dictate how to best protect children. But organizations like NCOSE and Moms For Liberty think this rhetoric describing children and their genitals is fine. They support SB 20. They support it as long as they can draw attention away from what they advocate for: covering the crimes of their members and pushing an anti sex, anti-child anti constitutional agenda. Stop SB 20.
