Undocumented immigrants are vital contributors to our communities and economy. In 2022 alone, they paid an incredible $96 billion in taxes using Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers. Rather than pursuing harmful deportations that tear families apart, we have a real opportunity here to create a legal pathway allowing these neighbors of ours to gain documented status. With that constant fear of being ripped from their homes removed, just imagine how much more they could achieve and give back to the communities they've woven themselves into. By recognizing their established roles with pragmatic immigration reform, we'd all mutually benefit from their further integration and economic contributions. It's simply the right, humane path forward.
