Pass the Original LAW Act

To: Sen. McCormick, Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Thompson

March 3

The current minimum wage in the United States is failing to provide a livable income for millions of Americans. By tying the minimum wage to 40% above the federal poverty threshold for a family of four, the Original LAW Act would ensure that full-time workers can adequately support themselves and their families. This is a crucial step towards addressing income inequality and the exploitative nature of low wages that keep people trapped in poverty. Raising the minimum wage to $26.59 an hour by 2030 would uplift countless families and boost economic activity as workers have more money to spend in their communities. Furthermore, allowing the wage to be updated every seven years based on poverty data helps maintain a decent standard of living over time. While corporations may protest this reform, prioritizing profits over human dignity is unacceptable. Workers are the backbone of our economy and deserve to be properly compensated. I urge you to support the Original LAW Act and take bold action to create an economy that values human life over corporate greed. The widening wealth gap is destroying the social fabric, and raising the minimum wage is a crucial step in empowering working families. Please do the right thing and fight for economic justice by passing this legislation.
