Oppose IODA KOSA and the SCREEN Act

To: Sen. Warnock, Sen. Ossoff, Rep. Carter

From: A constituent in Hinesville, GA

May 30

I'm writing to ask you to oppose KOSA, IODA and the SCREEN Act. Laws like these do nothing to protect children from exploitation or CSAM, instead making it easier to hide while legal speech is criminalized and free speech and privacy are threatened. Recently a member of the FBI was arrested for having over 1000 images of AI generated CSEM on his computer. He was let go on bond. That's just one example of these laws being ineffective. This man will go on to continue producing CSEM and CSAM with the images of children while age verification, 'harmful to minors' laws, obscenity redefinitions and bans do absolutely nothing to stop people like this. Fictional content and sexual content is not the issue. It's the fact that so many laws that censor mask issues. As a constituent I feel ashamed that the government is willing to sacrifice the dignity of adults and minors in favor of censoring fictional content, in addition to ignoring the fact that this has not stopped the distribution of photos of children and adults without their consent. TAKE IT DOWN has not changed the behavior of these producers of CSEM and NCII. It has only made it easier to report disliked speech that's legal. Please oppose KOSA, IODA, and the SCREEN Act. Repeal SESTA and FOSTA. Amend TAKE IT DOWN and narrow it so it tackles cases like this.
