I am writing to demand the immediate termination of all federal contracts with SpaceX following the catastrophic failures of two of its rockets within the last 40 days. These dangerous explosions not only demonstrate an unacceptable level of risk and incompetence but also impose substantial costs on American taxpayers in the form of ongoing FAA investigations. This reckless pattern of failure should not be rewarded with continued government funding.
Moreover, the federal government should not ignore the glaring ethical issue of Elon Musk simultaneously serving as a senior advisor to the President while his company continues to receive lucrative federal contracts. This blatant conflict of interest undermines public trust and raises serious concerns about favoritism, rather than merit, dictating the allocation of billions in taxpayer dollars. The ethical issue also extends to all Starlink contracts with the federal government as well.
Beyond financial and ethical concerns, these recent explosions have caused significant environmental damage, polluting our air and water while endangering nearby communities. The fallout from these failed launches is a stark reminder of the real-world consequences of allowing SpaceX to operate with apparent impunity. How many more disasters must occur before decisive action is taken?
The continued partnership between the federal government and SpaceX is a liability—both financially and ethically. I urge you to take immediate action to revoke all federal contracts with SpaceX before further damage is done to our national security, our environment, and the integrity of our government.
I expect a response detailing the steps being taken to address this urgent matter.
