I can't sit back silently as Trump is illegally deporting people and evoking the racist and disgraceful Alien Enemies Act of 1978 as justification. An act that deserves to be a black mark on our history, not a viable method of immigration control. Now he can depart even those who are here legally. This plane and the detaining of Mahmoud Khalil are tests. He wants to see what we, what CONGRESS, will let him get away with. What is Congress going to do to push back against such blatantly cruel and unlawful behavior? What are you, as my representative, going to do? If he's willing to defy a judge, what recourse do we have? The balance of power doesn't feel balanced.
