Oppose the TAKE IT DOWN Act

To: Rep. Carter, Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Warnock

From: A constituent in Hinesville, GA

April 24

I'm writing today to ask you to please oppose the TAKE IT DOWN Act. While this act does show promise in tackling non-consensual intimate imagery, the second section has a myriad of issues It's overly broad and will not only lacks safeguards for legitimate expression, but would violate the First and Fourth amendments simultaneously Worst of all, it could be used by bad actors to suppress speech that they don't agree with on the basis of it supposedly including NCII. Satire, recreations, documentaries, parodies and fan-created not-for-profit works that aren't intended to be harmful will be caught up in the mix. The intent is admirable and this bill could be made better with major revision. Please oppose it in its current state. Please also ensure that the new bill doesn't avoid guardrails and that it doesn't have any poison pills.
