Investigate ICE's Pattern of Violence and Rein In the Agency

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Babin, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Houston, TX

October 12

Demand a full congressional investigation into ICE's escalating violence and take immediate action to hold this agency accountable. In just one week, an ICE agent in Houston ran over Miguel Parra-Hernandez with a car, breaking his leg. An ICE agent in New York City shot a man sitting in a vehicle with his five-year-old child. An off-duty ICE agent in Fresno was accused of drunkenly attacking a man and his daughter on their own property. This is not a pattern of isolated incidents — it is a pattern of lawlessness. More than 30 people have died in 2026 during interactions with immigration officials. The Houston agent still hasn't been identified, and DHS won't say whether he was wearing a body camera — which ICE policy requires. Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones called it exactly what it is: ICE has brought "chaos and destruction to communities across our country." Congress has the power to defund, restructure, and oversee this agency. Use it.
