Protect Georgia election integrity from federal interference
To: Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Warnock
From: A constituent in Mableton, GA
January 28
**Protect Georgia's Election Integrity from Federal Interference** I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to protect Georgia's election integrity and voter registration data from federal overreach. The Trump administration's recent actions demonstrate a clear pattern of using federal power to undermine state election systems, and Georgia is at the center of this threat. The FBI's raid on the Fulton County Elections Hub, where they executed a search warrant demanding ballots, stubs, signature envelopes, and digital files from the 2020 General Election, represents an unprecedented federal intrusion into state election administration. This followed the Justice Department's lawsuit against Fulton County for failing to comply with their subpoena. These actions appear designed to support false narratives about election fraud rather than serve any legitimate oversight purpose, particularly given that Trump and his allies continue to claim without evidence that the 2020 election was stolen. The federal government has already attempted to blackmail Minnesota into turning over voter registration data, revealing that this is a coordinated national effort. With Stephen Miller serving as White House deputy chief of staff, an official Senator Thom Tillis recently called incompetent for making false claims before gathering facts, we cannot trust that federal demands for election data serve legitimate purposes. Miller and Trump are working to rig the system in their favor. I am asking you to take concrete steps to safeguard Georgia's election systems. This includes refusing any federal demands for voter registration data or election materials without proper legal justification, ensuring our Secretary of State has the resources and legal support to resist improper federal pressure, and passing legislation if necessary to create additional protections for Georgia voter information. The Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld states' rights against federal commandeering in cases like Printz v. United States and New York v. United States. Georgia's election integrity and voter rights depend on your willingness to stand against politically motivated federal interference. I need to know what specific actions you will take to defend Georgia voters.
