I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration at the lack of meaningful action taken by you and your colleagues to address the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. The situation has spiraled into what can only be described as a genocide, with over 30,000 Palestinian civilians killed according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. Yet, instead of taking decisive steps to protect innocent lives, you are considering legislation that would effectively reward American participation in this senseless violence. H.R. 8445, which aims to extend benefits to U.S. citizens serving in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), is an atrocious opposition to the principles of human rights and international law. It signals tacit approval of the IDF's disproportionate use of force and blatant disregard for civilian casualties in Gaza. Granting legal protections to those actively involved in such atrocities is not only unethical but also contradicts the values of justice and human dignity that our nation claims to uphold. The staggering loss of innocent Palestinian lives should be a wake-up call for immediate and decisive action, not a justification for further enabling the cycle of violence and retaliation. Instead of rewarding complicity in this humanitarian crisis, the United States should be leading diplomatic efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire, protect civilians, and facilitate the delivery of desperately needed aid to the besieged Gaza Strip. Your inaction and apparent indifference to the suffering of the Palestinian people are deeply concerning and unacceptable. I urge you to vote NO on H.R. 8445 at the earliest possible convenience and prioritize the protection of human life over political expediency.
