The president's actions over the past few weeks have amounted to a clear violation of the Constitution and represent an abuse of executive power. From revoking birthright citizenship to shutting down federal agencies and firing civil servants en masse, the administration has acted in blatant defiance of the rule of law. These systemic unconstitutional and illegal acts create a constitutional crisis that threatens the foundations of our democracy. We cannot allow this executive overreach to go unchecked. Our constitutional rights and the separation of powers are too precious to be cast aside on the whims of one person. The courts must serve as a check on this unlawful exercise of power and restore the proper balance between the branches of government. Inaction will only enable further erosion of our civil liberties and constitutional protections. We call on Congress and the judicial system to uphold their sworn duty to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Reaffirm the boundaries of presidential authority and take decisive action to rein in these alarming breaches before they inflict irreparable damage on our democratic institutions and ideals.
