The Supreme Court is being used as a weapon against LGBTQ+ Americans, and I need you to act on three fronts: support legislation to expand the Court, co-sponsor federal protections for LGBTQ+ people, and publicly commit to defending marriage equality. This is not a moment for caution.
Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council called the Court's recent anti-trans rulings "a good first step" toward overturning Obergefell v. Hodges. That is not a dog whistle — it is a roadmap. The same coordinated strategy that dismantled Roe over decades is now targeting trans youth through bathroom bills, sports bans, and gender-affirming care restrictions, with the 2025 decision in U.S. v. Skrmetti already on the books. The FRC, Focus on the Family, and allied groups are actively campaigning to reverse marriage equality on the grounds that it causes "child victimization." They are organized, funded, and winning.
A Court that has already upheld care bans for trans youth will not protect us. Congress has to act. Expand the Court, pass statutory protections that don't depend on a favorable bench, and draw a clear line. My rights and the rights of millions of LGBTQ+ Americans are on the table right now.
