In a move that has surprised precisely nobody, senate republicans have gone back on their word and blocked the ACA subsidy renewal. Senator Durbin claimed that his decision to reopen the government, thereby giving up our only leverage, was the right thing to do for American families. Nearly everyone in my family relies on the ACA subsidies, as do many of Senator Durbin’s other constituents. I would like to know what the senator plans to do to address this looming healthcare crisis, due in part, to his failure to take a stand during the government shutdown.
