Oppose FISA Section 702 Reauthorization Without Significant Reform

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Bergman

From: A constituent in Beulah, MI

April 16

I am writing to demand that you vote NO on any clean reauthorization of FISA Section 702 before the April 20, 2026 deadline. Section 702 was designed to target foreign intelligence, yet it has been consistently abused to conduct warrantless, "backdoor" searches on Americans—including peaceful protesters, journalists, and local officials. I expect you to hold the line and protect our Fourth Amendment rights by ensuring any extension includes: 1 A strict warrant requirement for any search of Americans’ data. 2 Closing the Data Broker Loophole, banning the government from buying our sensitive personal data to circumvent the warrant process. If these reforms are not included, I demand you allow Section 702 to sunset.
