Support the JAWBONE Act to Stop Government Censorship by Proxy

To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Mannion

From: A verified voter in Syracuse, NY

June 19

Please co-sponsor and vote yes on the JAWBONE Act, introduced by Senators Cruz and Wyden. This bipartisan bill creates a federal cause of action against government officials who pressure broadcasters, platforms, or AI providers into suppressing lawful, First Amendment-protected speech — and it establishes a transparency system for those government communications. Both are long overdue. The problem is real and documented. In October 2025, the U.S. Attorney General demanded Apple remove ICEBlock — an app that let the public report immigration enforcement activity — from the App Store. Apple complied. That's the government using a private company as a tool to silence protected speech, and right now there's no clean legal path for victims to fight back. The JAWBONE Act fixes that. It doesn't restrict legitimate government outreach to platforms; it targets coercion. That's the right line to draw.
