Consumer Protection, Right to Repair,Anti-Monopoly/Commerce

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Bergman, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Beulah, MI

June 9

I am writing to demand strong, immediate legislative protection for the Right to Repair and the preservation of independent businesses. Modern corporations are aggressively monopolizing diagnostic software, parts, and technical data, creating a closed ecosystem that locks out local mechanics, independent shops, and everyday consumers. When corporate giants restrict data networks to their own franchised networks, they eliminate healthy market competition and subject citizens to predatory pricing out of pure necessity. Accessing independent services or fixing our own property should not be a corporate privilege. I urge you to support the REPAIR Act and pass sweeping protections that guarantee independent businesses and individuals have full, unrestricted access to the tools, software, and parts required to service modern equipment. Protect our local economies and stop predatory corporate overreach.
