As a concerned citizen, I urge your bipartisan support to confirm Dr. Casey Means as U.S. Surgeon General. She is a Stanford-trained physician, best-selling author on metabolic health, and a wellness entrepreneur who founded a data-driven health startup to help Americans prevent chronic disease. Dr. Means’s combination of academic expertise and practical experience has earned her praise from many corners. President Trump even commended her “impeccable MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) credentials” and said she could be one of our finest Surgeon Generals. He noted that she will work closely with Secretary Kennedy to reverse the chronic disease epidemic and ensure great health for all Americans. Dr. Means and her family have a record of bridging divides. Her brother Calley Means, a top adviser to Secretary Kennedy, helped secure Mr. Kennedy’s endorsement of the President. These actions show how the Means siblings have connected leaders and citizens across party lines around public health goals. Likewise, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat – President Trump’s first pick for surgeon general – is a veteran ER physician and former Army officer who led medical relief missions abroad and directed urgent-care clinics. She became a familiar voice on health issues by explaining medical topics on networks from Fox News to national morning shows, building trust with people of all backgrounds. Both Dr. Means and Dr. Nesheiwat exemplify the expertise and approach we need. Dr. Means co‑founded a wellness app and co‑authored a book urging healthier living to combat disease. She has engaged millions on social media and TV with clear, science-based advice that resonates across party lines. Dr. Nesheiwat’s frontline experience adds real-world credibility: she guided countless patients in urgent-care clinics, led relief efforts overseas, and explained medical science in simple terms on national broadcasts. These accomplishments—spanning innovative health initiatives to on-the-ground patient care—demonstrate the competence and unifying leadership we need in the Surgeon General’s office. Our country needs leadership driven by integrity, competence, and unity rather than politics. Dr. Means embodies those qualities. She has shown through her career that she puts people’s well-being first and builds support for evidence-based health across divisions. Confirming Dr. Means would demonstrate Congress’s commitment to a health agenda that transcends ideology. Thank you for considering my perspective and for any efforts you make to unify our country around smart, nonpartisan public health leadership.
