An Open Letter

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Barrett, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Lansing, MI

August 26

Passing off FDA food inspections to states will harm Americans. Americans in states with less regulatory infrastructure and will to enforce food safety will live in a different America than those who live in states with robust oversight. It is chilling and infuriating to see the federal government continue to avoid it's responsibilities, and likely avoid its bills, all while costing tax payers more than ever. I pay taxes for food inspections and civil rights enforcement, not for idiotic unwinnable wars to serve the ego of an unchecked dementia patient. Congress must pass laws to protect Americans from Trump's race to the bottom. We are becoming the punchline to a joke about fecal incontinence. We are undermining our own agricultural systems to import mystery meat from failing fascist states. Congress must step in where there Slumlord in Chief is failing to prioritize the interests of Americans. Children die when food isn't safe. Aren't you tired of the blood Trump is constantly getting all over YOUR hands?
