Block the 3,000-Bed Child Detention Facility and Defund ICE

To: Rep. Casar, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Manor, TX

August 22

Block this facility. The Trump administration is moving to build a 3,000-bed detention campus for unaccompanied migrant children — children — with eight kids per room sharing a single toilet. Recreation areas don't even have to be outdoors. This is not humanitarian care. This is a cage with a press release attached to it. Meanwhile, 20,000 migrant children lost their legal representation overnight when the Acacia Center for Justice contract was terminated. The administration then tried to hand a $150 million legal contract to a firm with zero experience representing children, and ultimately awarded a no-bid $158 million contract to an anti-trafficking group whose founder resigned amid allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking. These children are being stripped of legal protection and warehoused behind eight-foot perimeter fences. Immigration judges are issuing over 10,000 removal orders for minors every single month. This is not a border policy. It is a systematic campaign against children who have no voice and no advocate left. I need you to publicly oppose this facility, demand a congressional investigation into the ORR contracting decisions, and push to defund ICE operations targeting minors. Do your job and stop this.
