Protection and Advocacy for Developmental Disabilities was legislated because institutions were not safe or humane and people were suffering and dying. Abuse and neglect were rampant and deadly. RFK Jr's father was one of the first to draw attention to Willowbrook, the institution so vile it brought about massive change, including P&A. Now RFK Jr wants to remove the only unconflicted eyes on Developmentally Disabled people in many settings. This is perversion. It is shameful that the nephew of Rosemary Kennedy would fight to end protections for our most vulnerable Americans. Stop the DHHS cuts. They will not only cost the taxpayers more than the programs ever did, they will cost this country its humanity.
