Support gender equality and inclusive policies across all sports

The International Olympic Committee's stance on allowing transgender athletes to compete in accordance with their gender identity is commendable and aligned with fundamental human rights principles. As the United States prepares to host the 2028 and 2032 Olympic Games, it is imperative that we lead by example in promoting gender equality and inclusive policies across all sports. The IOC's Strategic Framework on Human Rights and the Olympic Charter enshrine the right of every athlete to participate without discrimination, upholding the core values of the Olympic Movement. The recent controversy surrounding two female boxers arbitrarily disqualified by the International Boxing Association highlights the importance of due process and evidence-based regulations rather than abrupt rule changes during ongoing competitions. By continuing to support the eligibility criteria established for the Paris 2024 boxing tournament, which respects athletes' gender identity as reflected in their official documents, the IOC demonstrates its commitment to protecting the human rights of all participants. This principled stance deserves unequivocal backing from the international sporting community, including the United States, as we strive to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for athletes of all backgrounds.
