Hypocrisy & Gun Violence

To: Rep. Amodei, Sen. Rosen, Pres. Trump, Sen. Cortez Masto

The killing of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, was tragic. But what is more enraging is the hypocrisy in the response. For years, Kirk and his movement fought against gun reform. They mocked survivors, belittled grieving families, and told us to “sit down and shut up” every time we demanded action. And now—only now, when one of their own has fallen—suddenly gun violence is a crisis? Suddenly the very people who dismissed bloodshed in schools, churches, and grocery stores want protection for themselves? Let’s be crystal clear: this is not leadership. This is not compassion. This is opportunism, and it reeks. MAGA is already twisting Kirk’s death into martyrdom, trying to turn tragedy into fuel for division. But the truth is this: they didn’t care about the children slaughtered in Uvalde. They didn’t care about the families shattered in Buffalo, in Las Vegas, in Parkland, in hundreds of towns that never even made national news. They only care now—because the violence finally touched their own. That is not enough. It is too little, too late, and it is shameful. If Congress is serious, then stop playing favorites with grief. Every American life is worth the same urgency. Every mother burying her child deserves the same outrage you are showing now. If you want to honor Charlie Kirk, then honor all victims of gun violence—not just the politically powerful. Here is what must happen: 1. Pass real gun reform. Background checks, assault weapon bans, red-flag laws—measures that most Americans already support. Enough excuses. 2. Stop treating violence as partisan currency. Quit turning victims into martyrs only when it suits your politics. Either we care about all lives, or we admit this is about power, not principle. 3. Break the cycle of hypocrisy. Do not let Kirk’s death become another cynical talking point while families across America continue to bleed and grieve without your action. The blood on the floor isn’t red or blue—it’s American. And every day you stall, it spreads. The time for half-measures and hollow condolences is over. Either do your job and protect your constituents—or admit that the safety of the American people has never really been your priority.
