Oppose Military Action Against Iran and Condemn Trump's Threats

To: Rep. Reschenthaler, Sen. McCormick, Pres. Trump, Sen. Fetterman

From: A constituent in Uniontown, PA

April 7

Vote to block any authorization for military strikes against Iran and publicly condemn President Trump's threat that "a whole civilization will die tonight." His April 6 deadline demanding Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz has pushed us to the brink of catastrophe. More than 1,900 Iranians have already been killed since late February, along with 13 U.S. service members. Trump's threats to target civilian infrastructure constitute war crimes under international law, as confirmed by UN officials, military law scholars, and the Pope. Trump himself said he's "not at all" concerned about committing war crimes. This is unacceptable and demands Congressional action. Iran's UN representative has characterized these threats as "incitement to genocide." Pakistan has proposed a two-week extension to allow diplomacy to work. Congress must seize this opening and prevent further escalation that could kill millions and destabilize the entire Gulf region. Hold Trump accountable through every tool available: withhold military authorizations, launch investigations, and use the power of the purse. The Constitution gives Congress alone the power to declare war. This reckless march toward mass civilian casualties must stop now.
