I am writing to express my concern that free speech is once again being infringed upon by the current administration. The mandate by the Department of Defense and Pete Hegseth that the press sign a pledge to get approval from the department to release information even un classified information, is a direct violation of the first amendment. The freedom of the press is an inherent part of American freedom. The public deserves a free press and unfiltered information with full transparency rather than state mandated or state approved only news. We live in a free society, and freedom of speech and a free press is a cornerstone of that. I strongly encourage you to speak out on these attacks agains t the first amendment.
