I hope you are as concerned as I am that Trump has placed Darren Beattie as acting Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, a key role that is responsible for helping shape US messaging abroad related to counterterrorism and violent extremism. Darren Beattie was fired from the last Trump administration for speaking at a White Nationalist conference. And now he has one of the top positions at State! This man has been very clear that he a racist and misogynist. His comments reflect his beliefs that only ‘competent white men’ should be in charge. This is one more red flag as to where our country is heading under Trump. I hope, as my elected officials, you will resist this anti-DEI BS whenever and wherever you can.
