Please Support H.5177 / S.2865: An Act Relative to School Library Standards

To: Sen. Warren, Sen. Markey

From: A constituent in Westfield, MA

June 18

I am writing to express my strong support for H.5177 / S.2865, An Act Relative to School Library Standards. School libraries are essential to a quality education. They provide students with access to books, research materials, and a safe space to explore ideas, build critical thinking skills, and develop a lifelong love of reading. Strong school libraries also help students become informed, responsible users of information in an increasingly complex digital world. By establishing statewide standards, this bill would help ensure that all students, regardless of where they live or attend school, have equitable access to high-quality library services and resources. Professionally staffed and well-supported school libraries strengthen literacy, support classroom learning, and provide opportunities for students to discover new perspectives and interests. Every student deserves access to a school library that meets consistent, high-quality standards. Supporting school libraries is an investment in education, equity, and the future of the Commonwealth. I respectfully urge you to support H.5177 / S.2865 and help ensure that every Massachusetts student has access to the resources and opportunities that a strong school library provides.
