The Pentagon has reported that the first six days of the "war" in Iran cost over $11.3 billion. That's roughly $2 billion per day. And that was before we lost a refueling plane and the four people flying it. Cost to replace the plane - around $40 million when it was made. Cost of the flyers who died in the crash because they didn't have ejection seats and parachutes - priceless. Cost to replace one of those flyers, variable depending on rank and years of service - roughly $1 million. So, replacement cost of aircrew and plane - $44 million, roughly. This doesn't factor in the other soldiers who have been killed or injured badly enough to require specialized medical support for the rest of their lives. As of today, March 17, 2026, by the Pentagon estimates for the first 6 days of Trump and Israel's invasion of Iran, the US has spent $33.9 billion, which puts us on track to spending a Trillion dollars by the beginning of May, with millions in collateral expenses on top of that. The trillion dollars is what will have been spent in equipment, ammunition and other supplies which will have been used up. That amount, plus inflation, will need to be spent to replace what has been used, so the actual total cost is over $2 trillion. Two trillion is the average increase in the national debt for an entire year. As of March 16, 2026, the national debt stands at $38.97 trillion. We can't afford Trump's adventure in support of Israel. When the costs for consumers in the US are already severe in many areas, and those costs are rising as fast as they are due to the international economic situation created by the "war", more people are going to become dependent on our social safety nets for everyday essentials. Those programs will need infusions of cash to be able to maintain services, whether the political far right likes it or not. At the rate this is likely to happen there won't be enough money in the already allocated emergency and slush funds to handle the crisis. Trump's adventure in Iran must be stopped before our, and the world's, economy is destroyed.
