I am writing to demand immediate action to enforce the fragile ceasefire currently in place and to bring a definitive end to U.S. involvement in the war in Iran and the broader regional escalation.
While a ceasefire has been announced, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Violations and continued military actions by multiple parties are undermining any meaningful de-escalation. Without enforcement and accountability, this ceasefire risks becoming little more than a pause before further escalation.
Israel’s ongoing operations in Lebanon are a clear example. Continued strikes and incursions are driving mass displacement and civilian harm at a staggering scale, with well over a million people forced from their homes and thousands killed. These actions are destabilizing the region and eroding any path toward peace.
The United States must not continue to enable this.
Congress must demand that the administration use its full leverage to pressure Israel to halt its offensive operations, uphold ceasefire commitments, and stop actions that are displacing civilians and destroying infrastructure.
At the same time, the war with Iran—initiated without congressional authorization or clear justification—remains unresolved. The administration has failed to articulate a coherent strategy or endgame, and its actions are straining critical alliances. NATO partners are increasingly wary of being drawn into a conflict that lacks legal grounding and carries enormous risk.
This is a dangerous moment.
The ceasefire is fragile. The region remains on edge. Without immediate action, this conflict could reignite at any time, with even greater consequences.
I urge you to:
- Push for strict enforcement and monitoring of the ceasefire.
- Oppose any funding that would prolong or reignite the war.
- Demand that the administration pressure Israel to halt its offensive in Lebanon and prevent further mass displacement.
- Reassert Congress’s authority over war powers and end unauthorized military engagement.
- Prioritize diplomacy to prevent further escalation.
This is not a moment for complacency. A ceasefire without enforcement is not peace—it is a warning.
Congress must act now to ensure this war truly ends.
