Support Reasonable Childhood Independence in MA

To: Rep. Clark, Sen. Warren, Sen. Markey

From: A constituent in Malden, MA

July 26

Please pass a Reasonable Childhood Independence law in Massachusetts. Fear-driven overparenting and vague legal definitions hinder children’s growth and mental health. Parents shouldn't risk a child protective services investigation simply for allowing a mature child to do basic, age-appropriate activities—like walking to school, riding a bike, or playing in the neighborhood. Clarifying our state neglect laws will protect loving families, promote childhood resilience, and allow CPS to focus on actual abuse. Please support legislation that protects age-appropriate freedom for Massachusetts kids.
