PETITION TO THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MANDATORY PERIODIC COGNITIVE SCREENINGS FOR ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS
To the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled:
We, the undersigned citizens of the United States, respectfully submit this petition to urge the immediate introduction and passage of legislation requiring mandatory, periodic cognitive testing for all federal elected and appointed officials, including members of Congress, the Executive Branch, and the Federal Judiciary.
The responsibilities of federal leadership require peak mental acuity, sound judgment, and the uninterrupted ability to process complex information under immense pressure. Decisions made by federal officials directly impact the national security, economic stability, and general welfare of hundreds of millions of Americans, as well as the global standing of the United States.
To ensure the highest standards of governance and to maintain public trust in our democratic institutions, we believe it is necessary to establish objective, non-partisan health standards comparable to those required in other high-stakes professions, such as commercial aviation, law enforcement, and military leadership.
Therefore, we request that Congress draft and enact legislation to:
Establish a standardized, independent medical protocol for regular cognitive and mental fitness evaluations.
Require these evaluations for all sitting and incoming federal officials on a periodic basis.
Determine transparent, constitutional guidelines for handling instances where an official exhibits significant cognitive impairment, ensuring due process and the continuity of stable governance.
By establishing these measures, Congress will take a proactive step toward protecting the integrity of our government and ensuring that those who lead our nation possess the essential cognitive capacity to fulfill their constitutional oaths.
